Welcome to Puerto Escondido!
We are Lorne & Glenda Marr, from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It has been a dream of ours to move to Mexico one day, and finally in September of 2009 we moved! After travelling extensively throughtout Mexico, we vacationed in Puerto Escondido in 2008 through the recommendation of friends; and so glad we did. The area offers everything we have been searching for and more.

Puerto Escondido is authentic Mexico, while still providing the comforts of home including a super market; hospital; private healthcare facilities and excellent dental care; car dealerships; airport; bus terminals and more. 

The slower pace is a welcome change after decades of doing business in the fast pace of Calgary. We especially enjoy the quality of Lifestyle we can afford to have here in Mexico. Prices of virtually everything are significantly lower here than in Canada, so every dollar/peso goes so much further. We can also afford to have maid service, a gardener and pool maintenance every week. And paying to have the pool cleaned beats paying to have the drive way shoveled any day!

We also enjoy the activities available here from fishing, snorkeling, trips on the lagoon to see birds and other wildlife, and of course the special events and fiestas Mexico is famous for. There is a large number of Canadian and American residents here, who gather for special events of our own. It is such a nice mix of new Mexican experiences and familiar occasions with other English speaking friends. 

Escondido means hidden in Spanish...so you may not find too many direct flights here. That is probably why the growth of this city is a little slower than that of Puerto Vallarta or other more touristy areas. You will find direct flights from Mexico City right into the Puerto Escondido Airport and it is less than a 1 hour flight. Another option is to fly to the Huatulco airport which is located only 1 hour and 10 minutes from Puerto Escondido. Ground transportation is affordable and easy to arrange, so getting here is easy. If flying out of Canada, check  www.Sunwing.ca for direct flights from numerous Canadian cities. Both Continental Airlines and US Airways also fly into Huatulco, so compare pricing for the best deal. With a little effort, you can find a way here. Trust us... it is worth the trip.
